Uganda’s Military Referral Hospital to Be Inaugurated on April 30th, 2025



The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) is set to mark a significant milestone in the country's healthcare sector with the opening of the Military Referral Hospital on April 30th, 2025. The hospital will be officially inaugurated by the President of Uganda, further underscoring its importance as a critical healthcare institution for both military personnel and the general public.

In a statement, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of the UPDF, expressed his pride in this major achievement: "We will open our beautiful Military Referral Hospital on April 30th. The President will open our hospital. It is going to be the BEST hospital in Uganda, and perhaps in East Africa." He further congratulated all members of the UPDF for their contributions toward the successful realization of the project, emphasizing the collective effort involved.      

The Military Referral Hospital is designed to provide state-of-the-art medical services and specialized care. Equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced medical technology, the hospital aims to deliver world-class healthcare to both military personnel and civilians. 

The facility will serve as a regional hub for medical excellence, raising the standard of care available in Uganda and the surrounding region.

General Muhoozi’s statement highlighted the strategic importance of the hospital in enhancing the capacity of Uganda’s healthcare system, positioning the country as a leader in medical services in East Africa.

This new hospital represents a commitment by the UPDF to contribute positively to the well-being of the nation and to further strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in Uganda.
